Kyle Connor scored twice, including the game winner with a minute left in regulation, for the Winnipeg Jets, who rallied to beat the visiting Colorado Avalanche 3-2 on Wednesday night.
Cole Perfetti also scored for the Jets, who have won three straight and have earned points in all four games. Mark Scheifele and Dylan Samberg posted two assists each, while Neal Pionk also picked one up.
Stuart Skinner stopped 32 shots to get the win.
Jaden Schwartz and Fedor Svechkov finished with a goal and an assist each for the Avalanche. Brent Burns got the secondary assist on Schwartz’s first goal of the season, while Brett Kulak helped set up Svechkov.
Mackenzie Blackwood made 16 saves for the Avalanche, who lost for the first time this season.
After scoring 14 in their first two games, the Avalanche were held in check by Skinner, who denied the visitors on all 17 of their first-period shots.
Colorado finally solved Skinner, with Schwartz gathering the loose puck from the high slot with 17:09 remaining in the second. However, Connor got the equalizer just 70 seconds later.
Perfetti put Winnipeg ahead with 1:44 left in the middle period, deflecting a Samberg shot from the point.
Colorado outshot the Jets 7-2 in the final period and tied the game when Svechkov, whom the Avalanche acquired in June from the Nashville Predators, redirected a short crossing pass from Schwartz with 7:25 left in regulation.
It appeared the game would go to overtime, until Scheifele got a takeaway in the Jets defensive end. He skated along the boards down the length of the ice, feeding Connor from the left faceoff circle, and Connor was able to beat Blackwood on the short side from the high slot.
The win was particularly big for the Jets because they lost defenseman Josh Morrissey midway through the second period with an upper-body injury, leaving them with just five defensemen against the prolific Avalanche attack. The 31-year-old had three assists already this season.
