New York Mets star outfielder Juan Soto was placed on the 10-day injured list Monday with a right calf strain and is expected to miss two to three weeks.
Soto, 27, was injured while running the bases Friday on a Bo Bichette single against the San Francisco Giants . The roster move is retroactive to Saturday.
Infielder Ronny Mauricio was recalled from Triple-A Syracuse in a corresponding move.
A four-time All-Star, Soto is off to a strong start in 2026, bating .355 with a .928 OPS, along with a home run and five RBIs in eight games.
Soto had only one previous non-COVID IL stint in his career, which happened in May 2021 when a strained left shoulder kept him out for two weeks with the Washington Nationals.
In Soto’s place, Jared Young started in left field on Saturday and Sunday. Brett Baty and Tyrone Taylor could also fill in for Soto.
The Mets entered the week a half-game behind the first-place Miami Marlins in the NL East and open a three-game series on Tuesday against the visiting Arizona Diamondbacks.
